Defiant France women’s soccer team manager Corinne Diacre has come out guns-blazing and vows to fight on as manager.

Having come under a barrage of attacks recently following the withdrawal of key players from the national duties, Diacre has spoken to the media in response to the attack. In a statement given to AFP, Diacre slammed  “destabilizing operation” against her and vowed to lead Les Bleues at the World Cup this summer. She bemoaned mud-slinging resulting in “shameful media battering“.

Diacre said: “For over ten days, I’ve been the subject of a campaign of a smear campaign which is astonishing in its violence and dishonesty. My detractors are not hesitating – with no worry for the truth – to attack my personal and professional integrity, four months before the World Cup.”

“In view of the shameful media outburst of recent days, I nevertheless wish to reaffirm publicly…that I am fully determined to carry out my mission, despite a destabilization operation.”

Tomorrow’s French FA executive board meeting will seek to put the matter to bad once and for all.
