Barcelona’s 19-year-old sensation Salma Paralluelo, who scored their only goal in their narrow 1-0 UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) win over AS Roma away on Tuesday evening, has said that their opponents could have as well won the match.

Speaking to UEFA.com after the match in Rome, Paralluelo said that Roma were coming really close to scoring and that Barcelona were making many mistakes.

“We missed a lot of chances; we created many chances, as you said, and we cannot afford to miss that many. There were times when they did get to our final third, which means they could have won.

“We have got to continue working because the return leg will be difficult. We have to fix our mistakes [going] into the next match”, she said.

Paralluelo, who has already scored 10 goals in 14 games for Barcelona in the league in her debut season, also expressed deligt at having scored her first UWCL goal.

“I am really happy with my first goal, it is always very special to score in the Champions League.

“As I said, I am focused on my work and we have to perfect the areas that we make mistakes in, especially with regard to goal conversion, so that we can score more goals and not suffer so much.”
