Canada coach Bev Priestman said that the effects of the ongoing wage shenanigans in the Canada camp ware evident in their 2-0 defeat to the USA in the second match of the SheBelieves Cup.

Speaking after the match, the 36-year-old Englishwoman said that her team exhibited a notable indifference in their application in the match.

“I couldn’t fault them for their effort. You could see a flatness to them”, she said.

She also rallied her troops by urging them to “push through” in the remaining games against Brazil and Japan on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.

Captain Christine Sinclair concurred with the manager saying, “This game, leading into it, could have gone one of two ways. Either we’re fighting for everything and we come out on fire or we come out flat. I think you saw in those first 10-15 minutes, we came out flat. I think we looked like a team that was tired, a team that was mentally exhausted. They’re defending World Cup champions for a reason and you have to be at your best to compete with them and we weren’t today.”

Forward Jordyn Huitema led Canada out of the dressing-room and they were clad in purple T-shirts written “Enough Is Enough” as the team took their fight for equality a gear up.
